Work Overview
Growing up in wide open spaces, there's a sense of belonging, a feeling of being at home amidst the vastness of nature. Hush was inspired by this core memory of violinist, Liam Freisberg and his experience growing up on a large property in Queensland, Australia. Listeners are invited to reconnect with their memories of wide-open spaces and the comfort they provide. Composed without a metre, almost entirely of natural harmonics, open strings and double harmonic trills, the music transports listeners to a place of quiet reflection. It traces the openness of space, of the feeling of the soft crunch of leaves underfoot and the gentle caress of the wind through branches. One's inner voice is hushed, and a deep sense of peace prevails.
