Chainwheel : for harpsichord, four hands
by Alex Chilvers (2021)
Score SampleView a sample of the score of this work
Chainwheel was composed for a premiere performance alongside Mozart's Sonata for four hands in B flat major (KV 358). I have taken small fragments from the 18th-century work and applied a range of transformations to create a large-scale, high-energy piece that utilises the full expressive range of the double-manual harpsichord.
Instrumentation: Harpsichord (four hands).
Duration: 12 min.
Commission note: Commissioned by Anthony Abouhamad and Heath Henn.
