Work

Jubilate Musica : for SATB choir, piano and percussion

by Carl Crossin (2017)

Work Overview

This work is a setting of the poem 'I am in need of music' by poet Elizabeth Bishop. The first section of the work is a setting of Bishop's poem and explores the human need for beauty through music. The creation of the revised version was, in part, a response to the trials and tribulations of 2020 - the year of COVID. The final section of the work (the final 2 minutes) is a jubilant celebration of the power of music to uplift and inspire and uses the Latin words 'Jubilate' and 'Exultate' and the principal drivers of a Celtic inspired coda.
