Work Overview
Mater Dolorosa is a setting of the first four stanzas of the 13th century Christian hymn Stabat Mater Dolorosa. As such, it is suitable for either liturgical or concert performance. The musical language of Mater Dolorosa is quite accessible and owes almost as much to Renaissance polyphony and harmonic usage as it does to contemporary choral sonorities.
