Yuan Hung Tao was a minor Chinese official during the Ming Dynasty who lost his job, sold up, and spent the rest of his life travelling through China on a boat, writing poetry about his experiences. His short epigrammatic poems provide insights into the lives of the people he encounters as well as exploring philosophy and religion.
