Work Overview
This wind quintet was commissioned by Penny Le Couteur and Greg Dickson in March 2020, giving me valuable employment during the first pandemic lockdown. The score was finalised during the second lockdown in November 2021, and was premiered at the Blackheath Uniting Church on October 30, 2022.
Despite, or perhaps because of, the circumstances of its composition, the work strives to be playful and life-affirming, and owes much to the musical inspiration of Jean Françaix.
