Work Overview
This work explores the effects of white phosphorus on the body. If one was to injest, inhale, or be in contact with 1000 mg of white phosphorus once oxidised, they would be dead in roughly 10 minutes (or 600 seconds). In this context, the idea of a "functioning body" is displayed through the production of sound, where by the end of the work, the body (or means of producing sound) is destroyed.
White phosphorous is a weapon that has been used throughout history from World War II to the Vietnam War, and is now being used illegally as stated by the Geneva Conventions by Israel against civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.
This work is dedicated to all the lives that have been lost under these horrific circumstances.
To search for peace is futile, but to find liberation amongst these times is truly attainable.
