Work Overview

When an old family-run circus came to town, I remembered the wonder and excitement I experienced as a child being taken to the circus, where magic happened in and above the sawdust, under the bright lights.

Instrumentation: Piano.

Duration: 8 min.

Difficulty: Advanced — Some chords stretch to the 9th; maintenance of strict tempo within variations; facility in runs.

Contents note: 1. Parade (3 min., 25 sec.) -- 2. Catherine wheels (2 min., 38 sec.) -- 3. The pink ballerina on a white pony (2 min., 20 sec.).
