Work Overview
The main idea behind the first Contrapunctus was to evoke a continuously evolving dialogue between two independent voices - between the violin and the viola.
In creating a similar type of dialogue, the new piece takes up where the earlier one left off.
The piece ends with a coda based exclusively on parallel sixths, and closes with a triumphant sustained chord, as if to say:
"Harmony lives!"
