Work Overview
The keys are standard 'guitar' keys - Bm, D major & Am. Not suited to primary school or beginner ensembles. An intermediate to strong level of playing is a prerequisite. 'SGS', 'Partly Passacaglia', 'Transitions', and 'Iridescence' are aimed at reasonably advanced High School Guitar Orchestra/Quartets and community ensembles. The chord progressions and melodies are generally modal with logical four-bar phrases. 'SGS' was premiered at the Sydney Guitar School 2024 Summer Workshop. 'Partly Passacaglia' and 'Transitions' were premiered at the 2025 Summer Workshop and 'Iridescence' was premiered in September 2025. All performances were at the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre, Fitzroy Street, Kirribilli. Parts supplied with the full score are: Guitar 1, Requinto (same - transposed from Guitar 1), Guitar 2, Guitar 3, Bass, and Bass in treble clef (same part written in treble clef). That is, the work is in four voices.
