Work

Good Weather : For Violin, Clarinet and Piano

by Michael Knopf (2013)

Work Overview

This work developed from a simple melody I found myself humming on a mild and sunny morning while driving. I used it to start a brief new work for PLEXUS trio. I was to find out a few days later that a musician friend of mine had passed away suddenly so the work's second section reflects a quite different mood from the first.

The piece is organic with a simplified structure and conveys an emotive atmosphere at times. I felt often in writing this, that it was an appropriatework for film but may be of value for recitals.

The style of writing is perhaps a combination of neo-classical and casually minimalist.
