The initial expression marking is "joyously", which captures the essential nature of the piece. That first section is followed, however, by a second marked "pensively, even melancholic", then a third marked "scherzando, tongue-in-cheek", before the fourth and final section returns to the initial "joyously", but within which one must "prepare to take off" and then to "fly with all your heart".
