Work Overview
Sea Suite for mixed quintet serves as a sequel to Women of the Earth for Mixed Quintet commissioned by Inventi Ensemble and the Anglican Parish of St John the Evangelist Church in Flinders, Victoria in 2018. This collection of works was written for the creation and installation of four stained glass windows created by artist David Wright over a period of 4 years.
Sea Suite was written through intuitive response to the deep and rich spiritual concepts David Wright delivered in his three most recent stained glass art works. The spiritual journey depicted in these beautiful windows, and the way the glass work interacts with the light, is explored, honoured and celebrated in my compositional response for Inventi Ensemble. My deepest gratitude goes Ben Opie and Melissa Doecke of Inventi Ensemble, David Wright, and the Anglican community of Flinders for their support of this composition and for the beauty that they bring to the world.
