Work

Celestial mysteries : for unison voices with optional descant, or SATB with organ

by Brett McKern (2015)

Work Overview

This anthem has two texts to choose from, one for Advent or Christmas and one appropriate to Communion. Its lilting organ accompaniment creates a gentle opening verse in unison. Verse 2 has optional SATB harmony, and verse 3 is for unison voices with optional soprano descant and builds to a climactic ending. It is in the tradition of hymn-anthems, but uses an original tune.
