Work Overview

This piano trio portrays issues around inequality, subjugation, abuse, aggression and the censoring of truth and free expression, some or all of which have historically simmered underneath the infrastructures of societies - even those calling themselves democratic and free - and which sadly still manifest in today's world. The tensions inherent to these foci are represented through a variety of compositional techniques and references. In two movements, the murder of George Floyd sits as an axis in the composition.
