Work Overview
Inspired by the textures and field recordings collected while surveying Kantarodai, Texturised explores the rhythms and movements within a small village. Voices, cowbells, exotic birds, augering, walking and sensations of the coast are intertwined with the diversity of sounds that percussion makes accessible. The work reflects on the theatricality of percussion through the use of glass and wooden beads, bows, fingernails, sticks, mallets and hands. Textures arise from the instruments, the materials that activate their sound and the layering within the electronic track.
