A thousand steps from sunrise features antiphonal writing that incorporates a groove that is passed between ensemble groups. The title alludes to the distance of Hong Kong from the equator and the number of stepped sounding notes in the work.
Instrumentation: 6 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones.
