Mowbray River Murmurs : for string orchestra / David Pyke.
Library shelf no. 784.7/PYK 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
After convalescing for a few months in the Mowbray area following surgery in 2023, David spent a deal of quiet time along the Mowbray River tributary Spring Creek, listening and absorbing sounds and impressions. As his condition improved, David began doing cycling circuits around the Mowbray River. Because of this relationship, which is essential for any art relevance reflecting pure inspiration, David felt he would like to encapsulate the river in a piece of classical music for string orchestra, just as he had done for the Desert Suite whilst based in the desert realm of the UAE for two years. This work received an RADF grant from Douglas Shire in October 2024.
