Work Overview
Lighthouse Cello Suite (Opus 215) was composed during a week long residency at Lighthouse Arts in Newcastle, wherre the traditional owners are the Awakabul people. The lighthouse is still working and the light is still shining as a beacon for the safety of Australians and visiting seafarers, as is the tradition of lighthouses. The lighthouse is at the top of a small hill on a small island which was joined to the mainland using convict labour. Newcastle is one of the oldest settlements in Australia.
