Work Overview
This song is a setting of a poem by Dame Mary Gilmore, an Australian writer who appears on the Australian $5 note. She accepted appointment as a Dame of The Order of The British Empire. The songs is set in the Australian bush, a young girl goes out at night. My setting is based on a visit to Clunes, a Victorian heritage town, where my great grandparents ran one of the local pubs.
