Work Overview

This is an electroacoustic work sampling Tchaikovsky's main theme from Swan Lake. The first half of the piece embellishes and expands the main theme using distortion and layering the theme with bells and plucked piano strings. The second half of the piece departs from the theme as a joyous emancipation where the early bell and piano gestures are able to fully develop. The themes of the piece relate to the gay male identity and ballet, which was particularly explored in the film Billy Elliot.
