Work Overview
Luminescence is a jazz piano trio piece that develops minimalist repetition ideas in overlapping layers played on piano, double bass, glockenspiel and drums. A recording of this piece featured on the Alister Spence Trio's album 'Mercury' which was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2007 (Best Australian Jazz Album). In the Alister Spence Trio the drummer Toby Hall plays drum kit and glockenspiel. The piece can be adapted to be performed without the glockenspiel.
