Work Overview

Very tuneful piece - as if wandering through a park at an easy pace, occasionally stopping to look at flowers, a statue or other points of interest. A more serious trio section in the middle, somewhat reminiscent of Grieg. Could be an encore at the end of a recital.

The composer notes:
Versions of this piece for Concert Band and orchestra are included in the "Petite Suite Française". The style of "Promenade" is reminiscent of late French romanticism, especially Poulenc.
