Commissioned by Katherine Stott and the Goldner String Quartet for the Beethoven's 250th Anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the Goldner String Quartet and the 30th anniversary of Australian Festival of Chamber Music. 25 Australian composers each composed a variation on Beethoven's theme 'Ode to Joy'.
