Work Overview

This piece was inspired by Wolli Creek, currently my home town. It has baroque stylings, featuring some light counterpoint and call and response. The main motif is quite simple, developing throughout the work. Timbre and dynamics are essential at maintaining interest. The main melodic line in the soprano deserves most attention, where the counter lines should be played with a lighter touch. The major key section should be played lively or upbeat, countering the melancholy minor key.

Work Details

Year: 2023

Instrumentation: Guitar.

Duration: 3 min.

Difficulty: Advanced — Maintaining a strong melodic line is key to a smooth performance. The major key section is challenging with its fretboard jumps and slurs. Practice slowly and increase speed only when comfortable.
