Work Overview

In 1933 the Musical Times reviewer described this work as "a cinematographic ribbon of pianoforte tone conveying sensations of colour and rapidity." This is achieved as expected with toccatastyle, by plenty of scale, arpeggio and trill-like movement. Beginning in C major, the tonality moves up and down a third as the texture thickens with dominant seventh chord support, the work finally ending in A major.
