Work Overview

The first of these six Berceuses, Lullaby for a favourite doll, is part of my Child's Play suite, and was also included in the first volume of First Light, a selection of pieces collected by the now defunct Fellowship of Australian Composers and considered suitable for high school students preparing for the NSW final year examinations. The first of the Berceuse in opus 32 was written as the first piece in the set of nocturnes "In the dark", and the last Berceuse in this volume, "Now sleeps the crimson petal", was written as a tribute to Miriam Hyde and included in the volume of pieces by ten composers originally published by The Keys Press as "A Tribute to Miriam Hyde".
