Ballade, op.23 : for symphonic orchestra

by Charles Bodman Rae (2013)

Work Overview

This new orchestral version of Chopin's Ballade in G minor, op.23, is the latest in an ongoing series of orchestrations of his piano works. It has been written for and is dedicated to one of the great Chopin interpreters of our time, Vladimir Ashkenazy. It is intended to be preceded in performance by my orchestral version of Chopin's Prelude in C sharp minor op.45. As a pair they have a combined performance duration of some 18 minutes.
