Work Overview

Waking up to birdsong, sipping your first cup of tea for the day, going for a walk around Mosman Bay on Sydney Harbour, working on a crossword puzzle, enjoying the sunset.........momentary pleasures!
This short piece of music is like that too. It is relaxing due to the arpeggiated left hand, the use of major 7 chords and the leisurely pace. A slow ballad with chord progressions in the style of Antonio Carlos Jobim, which takes one on a journey to faraway places like the African plains.....that is where I was during the summer of 2008.
A 16‐bar section in F major is followed by an 8‐bar section in Eb major. Improvisation occurs over the previous 24 bars. An 8‐bar section in Bb major releases the tension and an 8‐bar variation of the opening section ends the piece.
