Work Overview

This three-movement concerto for solo soprano Eb cornet and brass band was commissioned and premiered by cornet virtuoso Chase Hawkins of Lexington Kentucky in 2019. The premiere performance was given at the 2019 National Trumpet Competition, Lexington Kentucky and the first recording took place at ABC Eugene Goosens Hall with soloist Chase Hawkins and Pacific Brass, Directed by Ben Crocker.

Instrumentation: Solo soprano cornet in E flat, soprano cornet in E flat, repiano cornet, 2nd & 3rd cornets, flugelhorn, solo horn, 1st & 2nd horns, 2 baritones, 2 trombones, bass trombone, euphonium, E flat bass, B flat bass, timpani, 3 percussion (3 players), mallets.
