For the Five Fingers : Study No. 3 / James Cuddeford.
Library shelf no. 786.2/CUD 2 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
For the Five Fingers, the third "Study for a Portrait of Roger Smalley" occupies the centre of the piano and covers only the middle two octaves. It is written specifically with the classic five finger hand position in mind, and it references the long tradition of piano teaching literature (Bartók, Debussy, Czerny, etc.) that concentrates on this topic. It pays respect to Roger Smalley's work over many years as an esteemed pedagogue. This Study may be played as a separate work on either an upright "practice" piano or a conventional large concert grand.
