Work Overview

'Birth of the Cool' is a cabaret work for actor and jazz trio. 'Bomb' is one piece from the show which piants a picture of lives and times of the Beat Generation of American poets in the 1940s/'50s: Kerouak, Ginsberg, Burroughs and others. The actor relates the narrative which includes examples of the poetry, against the backdrop of the bebop-style score. Naturally the music is written with improvising jazz musicians in mind
