Work Overview

Bronwen Gibbs and I saw fireflies for the first time at night when staying in a traditional inn in the mountains of central Kyushu, which is the most southern island of Japan. We were taken to the pine forest where many stars spakled inthe depths of the night. There we saw illuminated fireflies, moving in slow arcs through the darkness. The tiny dots of light would suddenly extinguish, then light up again, and together they gave rise to playful patterns of light.
