Work Overview
Una Limosna Por El Amor de Dios (Alms for the Love of God) by Paraguayan guitarist and composer Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885 - 1944) is a tremolo piece that I arranged for flute and guitar. We played it many times over a few months before the sonorous music emerged in the version that we now play it. The music seemed to hold an entrancing character that was simultaneously heart warming. It was a year of blood moons, supermoons, blue moons, pearly pink and pale gold moons, and these seemed to weave a connection to the often nebulous music that we heard. Bron began making beautiful prints of the moon that she would return to many times, as we progressed on learning the music.
