Work Overview

Arrangements of 3 Spirituals for mezzo voice and full orchestra. The range is challenging for the female soloist (bottom F to top Bb) and some voices may need amplification.

A piano/vocal version exists for both low voice (original version) and high voice.

Instrumentation: Mezzo Voice, orchestra (Piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, bass clarinet, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 4 trumpets, 2 trombones, bass trombone (doubling tuba), timpani, percussion (2 players), strings).

Duration: 15 min.

Difficulty: Advanced — Wide ranging vocally.

Contents note: Sin (Sinner, please don't let this harvest pass) -- The Crucifixion (And He never said a mumblin' word) -- Ride on, King Jesus.
