Photophoresis was inspired by a photograph sent to the composer on a greeting card by an American concert pianist who is also a fine photographer. In this photograph, small flowers like stars shine out of an unfocused background of stems and water. I decided to explore this visual image in sound by superimposing clear sonorities over colourful resonance.
