Four suits of thirteen : for chamber quartet / Vincent Giles.
Library shelf no. 785.4414/GIL 1 [Not for loan]
Work Overview
This piece is designed around processes of indeterminacy using cards as the basis for pitch material, each card from A through to Queen represents a different pitch based on a set theory (C=0, C#=1 and so on) while the King represents a wild card. Each movement is quite short and represents a different characteristic of a suit of cards - clubs, diamonds, spades and hearts.
