Reach : for solo violin / Stuart Greenbaum.

Library shelf no. 787.2/GRE 8 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

This violin solo was written at the invitation of my long-time colleague Melbourne violinist, Erica Kennedy. Who contacted me in toward the end of March 2020, at a time when the world was in a state of increasing lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis. I myself was in 14-day isolation having just arrived back from a residency in Visby, Sweden. And artists all around the world were either out of work or not able to perform live in public. So Erica's call for music to record was more than welcome. And the title, Reach, has the dual meaning of reaching out; and also the technical idea of reaching further up the fingerboard of the violin toward higher notes.
