This Intermezzo for piano is intended to provide opportunity for the performer to make a creative contribution by performing the work as if improvised. There is much opportunity for the use of rubato. The work is suitable for solo recitals and also for examination purposes as it requires considerable technical expertise.
Duration: 5 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — Requires high standard of musicianship and interprative skills
Dedication note: Dedicated to Sally Mays
Commission note: Commissioned by Sally Mays.
Like all my piano works written especially for Sally Mays, my eclectic style includes various textures, contrapuntal, rhythmic and melodic and also some jazz influences. I have written a number of similar pieces for Sally Mays all of which require thoughtful input by the performer.
