In summer, the Australian sears the landscape tinder dry, the cicada sings, and the bush becomes a Cathedral of Flames. A Salute to the Sun, and an elegy for those who fought and those who suffered loss in the flames.

The composer notes:

The style is what might be termed Modern Impressionism; it aims at an abstraction of flame, heat and grief.
