One for Katharine : for soprano and tenor, or alto and baritone saxophones / David Hush.

Library shelf no. 785.8712/HUS 1 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

The piece may be played by Soprano and Tenor Saxophones or by Alto and Baritone Saxophones.

The entire composition is based on the technique of call and response. As an example, the first instrument opens with a descending minor second motive which is answered in the second instrument by a descending minor third. This gives rise to a pattern of sequences.

What is specifically varied between one sequence and the next is the rhythmic and intervallic makeup of the motive and the distance separating call and response.
