Work Overview

Dedicated to Danielle Eden, the Overture is the first of a series of pieces for flute or alto flute as preferred. The form of the Overture is founded on the French baroque model: an opening section in medium tempo imbued with dotted rhythms; a fast contrasting middle section; a reprise of the opening section. The composition of an Overture for solo flute is unusual and presents a special challenge to the interpreter.
