Work Overview
Written for piano and tar (Persian lute), this piece belongs to Meditation on Wind, a recording project released on the Internet in 2021.
The kernel of the album is a set of seven duets. In addition there are three short pieces for piano solo.
Tantraayin is based on a new and for the most part unexplored idea: the piano starts by playing a piece containing written-out notes along with improvisation. After the piano piece is finished, the tar player follows with an improvised response to what he has heard.
Tantraayin is a Sanskrit word said of the sun: drawing out threads or rays of light.
