The Eleventh Day is an intense, dramatic slow march with overtones of Mahler and Bruckner. The work takes its name from the occurrence of the eleventh of a month in significant events, such as the end of WW1, and the 9/11 attacks.
Instrumentation: Brass band (Timpani are important).
Duration: 6 min.
Difficulty: Medium — Aimed at lower-grade bands.
First performance: by Brisbane Excelsior Band — Oct 06. St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne
Won first prize in the McComish March Competition in the 2006 Melbourne International Festival of Brass.
