Work Overview

This is a setting of two verses from Laurence Binyon's poem "For the Fallen", including what has become known as the Ode of Remembrance. It was written as contribution to the commemoration of the end of WW1. It uses thematic material from the Last Post and from the plainsong Dies Irae.

Year: 2018

Instrumentation: Baritone voice, bass band. The work sounds best if the voice is strong enough to be heard unamplified, but a bit of reinforcement would not go amiss. It could also be sung by a choir with band.
