Work Overview
The work was written as an engaging and attractive item suitable for performance in the Sacred/Slow Melody sections of band contests and eisteddfods.
While not exactly a full setting of the magnificat, this work uses both the rhythm and contour of the words from the English Book of Common Prayer to inform the opening theme, and quotes the plainsong of the Latin text in the middle of the work.
