Work Overview

The idea of trying to reimagine Balzac's novella about the tormented composer, Gambara has been lurking in me for a while. When the opportunity arose to combine the talents of Michael K Harvey, Michael Hewes, the Astra choir and soloists, the piece finally emerged.

I attempt to channel the composer's struggles and visions along with the imagined 'panharmonicon' a 19th century proto-synthesizer.
