Work Overview

This is a work requiring the classical guitar to be tuned from bottom string to top as C G C G C E.

The piece uses the Persian Shur and Chahargah modes equivalent to Phrygian and Double Harmonic scales. It is an evocative and atmospheric piece that requires careful interpretation imitating middle eastern vocal chant.

Zagros was composed as part of a folio of works for the Doctorate of Musical Arts Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
