Alleluia Perenne, Amen : for SSA choir / Karen Lemon.
Library shelf no. 782.65525/LEM 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This piece was composed at the request of the University of Bristol Schola Cantorum, engaging with the research of the ERC-funded Old Hispanic Office Project based there. The text takes as its starting point Isidore of Seville's observation that the words alleluia and amen are the only words in the Office not translated into Latin, and then meditates on three particular occurrences (vigorous clamour in excerpts from the Book of Revelation and islands of calm contemplation in passages from the Offices of Vigilia Paschae and Carnes Tollendas).
