This piece is a setting of Psalm 23 and two other poems, 'He that is Down' by John Bunyan and 'Some Work for Immortality' by Emily Dickinson.
The music is based on an Appalachian melody, 'When Adam was Created', and incorporates influences from shape-note and Gaelic Psalm singing.
